Sylvain Joseph Vautour

March 27, 1923 - June 18, 2007

This page is in loving memory of my Grampie, Sylvain Joseph Vautour.

My Grampie was a veteran of WWII who served in the North Shore Regiment Infantry. He spent his civilian career working for CPR Winterport for 22 years and Irving Pulp and Paper for 25 years, retiring in 1988.

I was living in Nunavut when both Grammie Vautour and Grampie Wright both passed away. Sadly I was unable to return home for funeral services. Grampie Vautour was my last living grandparent and I was able to return home this time. I flew in on Saturday night and he passed on just over 24 hours later.

I have many fond memories of Grampie, having visited him and Grammie often as a child with my family. As a teenager I made a point to visit periodically on my own. He was always interested in hearing about what was happening in my life and loved to tell stories himself. It brought me great joy to introduce him to Louisa when I brought her back to Saint John in 2005. I am happy that she was able to meet him before his passing.
